Solder bar, also known as lead bar, helps to solder high-quality electronic circuits for a simpler process. Solve problems in the soldering process of electronic circuits, thereby increasing product efficiency. Let’s learn more about this product in the following article.

What is a solder bar?

Solder bar is a kind of bar-shaped solder material used in automatic wave solder assembly. The solder bar will be melted into liquid form and then put into the next stages to assemble electronic components on the circuit. The most common alloy for soldering electronic assemblies contains 63% tin, 37% lead, and has a melting point of only 361 °F. Other alloys used to assemble electronic components include 60/40, Sn62/36/2Ag with 2% silver, and 10/90 high temperature solder with 90% lead.

Today, most of the solder bars are made without lead, making the wave soldering process less toxic and more environmentally friendly. SAC305, a lead-free alloy with an ideal alloy ratio of 3% Ag, 0.5% Cu, and the rest Sn, is one of the most popular lines today.

How many types of soldering irons are on the market?

Leaded tin solder bar: The most commonly used tin and lead alloy is the eutectic alloy Sn63Pb37 solder bar, which has the lowest melting temperature and very good welding, cutting, and adhesion strengths. In addition, there are solder bars such as Sn60Pb40, Sn50Pb50, and Sn40Pb60, and low-tin solder bars such as Sn5Pb95. The higher the tin content, the more expensive the price.

Lead-free tin solder: Right from the name, we can tell that this type of solder does not contain lead, and people often use silver and copper to replace lead. Mainly solder bars: SAC305 (Sn96.5 Ag3.0 Cu0.5), SAC0307 (Sn99 Ag0.3 Cu0.7), SC07 (Sn99.3 Cu0.7)… Lead-free tin solder is ROHS compliant and can be used for welding in areas where ROHS compliance is required.

Applications of solder bars

Tin-solder bars are used quite commonly in life as well as in production, which can be mentioned in major fields such as:

  • Tin solder bars are used for soldering electronic circuits, copper plating, copper casting, and in the jewelry industry.
  • Tin solder bars are used in the electronic industry, textiles, and shipbuilding.

Where do you find tin-soldered bars?

Welding has always been the focus of design and manufacturing. Every project requires the right type of solder bar. If the wrong material is used, undesired results may occur. For example, welding rods made from tungsten carbide are well suited for petroleum and mining. Its hardness is very convenient for oil drilling, pipelines, and other accessories.

Buyers should choose the right solder bar for every soldering project and budget. Each project has specific strength, appearance, and durability requirements. That’s why TheTech is the right place for you to find the right products at your fingertips. Whether it’s a large construction and mining project or precision welding, we have a wide range of materials in bulk at reasonable prices for you to choose from.
